The new guys might have seen Derfel playing in our pickups. The veterans will surely remember him from the famous Quake III CTF team “Gunzoids” as well.
Now playing for the Dutch-based team LowLandLions in the GGL CTF cup, we wanted to sit down and have a chat with Derfel.
Can you start by telling a bit about yourself?

This is the first strategy discussion post in a series of many yet to come, so be sure to check back!
Ironworks is the first in a new series of QuakeLive ctf maps which is considered to be actually quite playable, so I figured it might be interesting to discuss some of the different possible tactics, starting with the defense.
In this post I will share what should be considered as my own personal opinion, and I invite everyone who wishes to share their own insights, to do so in the comment box below!

We’ve all experienced it already – one inch away from a cap and you get fragged … Holy Shit! Welcome to holysh1t.net!!
We started as a Quake Live CTF pickup channel and are happy to see CTF is still a very popular gametype. Quake Live is only in beta phase and we already have over 30 pickupgames per week.
Therefore we want to go further and bring you all the news of the CTF scene on this website.
You can expect scenenews, leaguenews, interviews and ofcourse lots of fun. We hope you will enjoy reading between a pickup in #qlpickup.eu
