Stermy-Do – meaning “The way of Stermy” – contains the views of the Italian player Stermy on several aspects of Quake Live.
Each edition will cover a different aspect of mastering the game of Quake Live.
“Weapons of the Master” is the first guide and very basically explains what weapons there are in Quake Live and how Stermy would use them.
Although this first edition is pretty common knowledge already, it will be very interesting to see what other parts of Quake Live he will review. Stay tuned!
Some things about the existing config generator could use some improvement (such as it being crammed into a small column) so I decided to renew it and at the same time make it even more userfriendly by adding a couple of features:
Preview weapon style images (due long time)
A keyboard that maps your bind layout and allows you to drag/drop to bind keys to input fields. Check it out!
Expanded the rail options (also have a look at the Rail settings post I made.)
Generate a subset of values like only controls or only graphical settings
It’s still at the same location – http://www.holysh1t.net/quake-live-config-generator/ – so you don’t need to change any bookmarks or browser history to visit it. Also available via Resources in the menu or through the hotlink at the top of every page on this website.
The Railgun is not just a very lethal, key weapon in Quake Live, it can also bring shiny color effects to the screen. Most players won’t care and use the default settings, but some like to tweak it just perfect to their likings.
There are two styles to the railgun, set using the cvar cg_railstyle. For the new style, which gives a very nice swirl effect around the beam, set it to 0. For the old style, a beam with disc elements in it, set it to 1. Continue reading…
Have you ever done something nice in Quake Live and wanted to share it with other players? We are now starting to host a frag display that might include your moment.
It doesn’t have to be all about fragging, it could be something that made you laugh when it happened. We will not give out any prize for the time being if we display your clip. You don’t have to be a pro player, everyone is welcome to send in their contribution.
Send in the demo.
All you have to do is, send the demo file via email to holysh1t.moment@gmail.com with a description of what happens, the time it begins as well as time duration.
If you have any questions about this please pm us at our IRC channel.
Don’t hesitate, grab your time in the spotlight!
Please read the updated instructions below the trailer, thank you!
“Holysh1t Moment” Trailer by Boleslav69
Updated guidelines for sending in demos to Boleslav69!
We would like you to pay attention on how to send demos for MOF:
Good example:
Torzelan-2m36s-6frags.dm_73 – Just name your demo similar to this (no readme necessary) Your nickname, time that frag starts, and brief description what to look for. Also time should be as it is counting UP not DOWN (cg_leveltimerdirection 1).
Or if you have multiple scenes in same demo this is a good example aswell: jones-[0m45][1m40][1m55][5m45][9m40][11m45][12m15]-air-rox&trick-jump.dm_73
Now, the bad example: (click to enlarge)
Nothing personal just would be nice if you don’t do it like this please
So keep’em coming for more compilations of our Moment of Fame series!
One of the new Weapons to QuakeLive is the Proximity Mine Launcher and strangely enough it has not had a warm welcome. The Prox Mine is not a popular weapon for many Quake players. As often as I see players on my own team throwing their mines about in a vain effort to block a passage or hallway, I rarely see people using Prox Mines as an offensive weapon. I have put together a video of very useful tactics to try and use with the Prox Mine. I’ll also talk about the CTF tactics concerning the mindset of players and why the Prox Mine plays such a big part of that. Continue reading…
In order to promote Quake Live, killat0n created an unofficial trailer.
killat0n: this trailer is intended for gamers who are new to Quake or have never tried it. It is by no means a frag movie. This trailer is my effort to help bring in more outside players to give Quake Live a try. The more players the more sponsers, the more sponsers the more
