Should #qlpickup.eu ask Quake Live devs for private servers?

In the last few days we couldn't help but notice how clanbase has nearly 30 private Quake Live servers to their disposal to run CB competitions.
This made us curious if it would be reasonable for us to ask 1 or 2 private servers for #qlpickup.eu as well. Just for the sake of refiring some of that interest in those pickup games Quakers have come to love in the past few years.
Clanbase introduces Quake Live
After GGL and ESL first introduced Quake Live, today, Clanbase follows suit introducing several new DUEL/TDM Quake Live Cups, with more to come.
Clanbase has always been a huge part of the (European) Quake scene, so definitely good to see CB becoming involded.
ClanBase is proud to add the web based first person shooter, QUAKELIVE, to our growing list of games. This wouldn't be possible without the help of id Software, we would like to express our deepest thanks to id Software for their support. We will be launching several competitions for the shooter's various game types very soon.
ClanBase will kick off with the Duel and TDM modes using the traditional ClanBase cup system. We suggest you to check out ClanBase frequently because signups for these cups will be openning in the very near future. While you wait for the cups and idle on the QuakeNET IRC network in #clanbase.ql, it may be a good idea to register your QUAKE LIVE name tag on ClanBase, under the GUID's section. Please note that we may be using PunkBuster software in the future, which may require a PB GUID to be added.
Join #clanbase.ql or go the clanbase Quake Live newspost for more info.
On a side note... There's about 30 private servers assigned to Clanbase right now. I'm definitely curious to see if those will be put to good use anytime soon.
6 new Quake Live maps in 6 weeks!
A couple hours ago, ID Software revealed on twitter that their '6 weeks 6 maps' campaign was about to kick off no sooner than this Monday 18th !

The first new map is called "Hidden Fortress" and should be suitable for 6-10 players games in TDM, CA and FFA formats. The map was one of Quake's classics from dreamcast.
You can find more information and a few screenshots of the maps here.

EUQL.org Interview with reigning Quake Live champion Cypher
The guys at EUQL recently did an interview with 2008's Quakecon and ESWC Quake (Live) champion Alexey "Cypher" Yanushevksy.
Everybody was allowed to send in questions for the young Belarusian which resulted in some mildly interesting conversation:
How do you turn the tides of a game when the opponent has item-locked you? (Cabelekse)
That depends a bit on my opponent. When you play someone like Av3k, it is very different to get control back then when you play an aimbased player. So either you wait till your opponent makes a timing mistake or like in Av3ks case you need to show extreme patience cause he doesnt make a lot of timing mistakes. You need to get well positioned so you can draw first blood if it comes to a fight or gradually wear his health/armor down.
See Cypher in action at the 2008 Quakecon finals at Quakeunity.com to see what all the fuss is about... or head straight to EUQL.org to read the full Cypher interview.

What type of maps would you like to see more of in Quake Live? [POLL]
Since the previous poll about two weeks ago, it has been established that more than 90% of the people passing by this website think Quake Live is worth a score of at least 3 out of 5.
Today we're curious to know what type of maps all of you would prefer to see more of in Quake Live.
It was previously said that the creation of new maps in Quake Live would depend on the success of the game.
Seeing how Quake Live received more attention than id software had ever dared to hope upon launch, I can only guess they are taking this as a sign to start mapping even more!
Just to make it even more interesting I also added the qzTRAINING option, even though there's currently only one map like that and it's not at all sure id software will ever make more of these.
This poll allows you to select max 2 options and will probably run about 2 weeks.
