Visual HUD public alpha
I love it when people take on a project that tackles the difficulty for new players - or just makes it easy for the lazy
- by creating something for their favorite game. Namad is such a person who started working on Visual HUD: a Quake Live online HUD generator.
I can relate to such projects, when releasing my first version of the config generator, I had to fix a huge amount of bugs, in little spare time, with almost weekly updates and changes to the commands and variables in Quake Live. That was even during closed beta. I can only cheer for a fellow gamer who took the bull by the horns in releasing a HUD generator. And when that person asks me to promote this thing, of course I will spam it wherever I can.
Basic QL pickup CTF
There's always room for improvement. Players want to get better, guides and tutorials want to get better in order to allow players to get better.
In the past, we've posted two Capture The Flag guides before:
- Beginner's overview of CTF going over all the basic ctf principles: a summary on positions, items exclusive to CTF (Arena CTF to be precise) and basic team communication.
- Positions and CTF explaining a more in-dept overview of offense, defense and midfield support.
We'd like to add one more:
Basic QL CTF guidelines for rookies aims to help new players to be able to compete in the pickup games arranged via IRC on #qlpickup.eu (Quakenet).
QL update: Finnegan’s and other stuff!
Not too long ago - September 28th: content and skill matching - Quake Live got it's 1st content update pack with 4 additional maps. Alas, no CTF map present there, but rejoice as Finnegan's has made the cut. Besides Finnegan's - better known to old-school Quake players as W3 - 3 other maps and a series of game changes are live since today's update.
So let's go over the worth-mentioning things in the October update:
QL update: new content and skillmatching checkup!
I don't really repeat the QL newspage that often. Since you are a fan of Quake Live, you should read them all on the Quake Live website anyway, but sometimes it's worthy to repeat and mention the key points that make this update more valuable to the players than others.
New content and improved skill matching!
