QuakeCon 2010 Tournaments!

Dallas, Texas! The place to be for one of the world's most known LAN parties ever: QuakeCon! Held August 12-15 at the Hilton Anatole! But this post is not about the accomodations regarding QuakeCon, it's about the tournaments that will be played there!

QuakeCon 2010 will feature 3 tournaments:

The Intel QUAKE LIVE Masters Championship will feature a 64 of the world's best players in a double-elimination best-of-3 match system which concludes in a best-of-5 final. Prize stash consists of over $25000 and the gold spot goes home with no less than $14000! Impressive!

But that's just one, as a second tournament there will be The QUAKE LIVE Capture the Flag Championship and yes you read that right: Capture the flag. It's awesome that at such an event, CTF will be present as a tournament on such a great event as QuakeCon!
Again over $25000 (of which $14000 to the winning team) in a single-elimination best-of-3 match system.

And to conclude, there's The QUAKE LIVE Open Tournament available to any who show up to claim $1500 for first spot. A very nice prize for a free-to-all Duel competition in a single-elimination best-of-3 system.

Pre-registration for the Masters and CTF tournaments is available on http://www.quakecon.org/tournament which is also the source for rules and terms of the events. The Open Tournament is on a first-come-first-served basis, so be on time!

ENC 2010 Playoffs

Now that the groupstage is over, from the 12 original teams, only 6 remain to battle it out in the small but intense playoff tree.

Starting with the Quarter Finals tomorrow evening - according to the schedule - between the Netherlands and the UK on one hand, and on the other hand we see another classic (remember Clanbase and QQC's grand finals in their respective nation cups?) of France vs Poland.

Wednesday the 7th of July at 22:00 CET we will broadcast both games on our TV channelpage

Teams that go through to the semi finals will meet up with Russia (for NL or UK) and Sweden (for FR or PL) as both these teams were top of the groupstage result table.

Clanbase All-Stars CTF match!

Some time ago, there was an ESL hosted All-Stars TDM match, featuring alot of top TDM players. So why not have that for CTF, huh? And after seeing the final 4 teams in the Clanbase Nations Cup finish their 3rd place and grand final, the CB admins thought: let's do this.

And they did! The All-Stars CTF game is a fact and will be played on Sunday May 16th at 21:00 CET and will consist of 2 players of each nation team that reached those final rounds in the Clanbase Nations Cup.

Representatives for each nation are:

France	Germany	Netherlands	Finland

But it is the community that gets to vote who will play the game. A first poll saw some things go wrong, but the 4 favorites have been selected. The admins have readjusted a few things into a new poll to select the 2nd player from each nation! So vote along on ESR to get your favorite into the All-Stars CTF game!

Clanbase CTF Nations Cup round up!

What a game!

It took all 3 maps before Clanbase could assign the champion title for their 13th Clanbase Nations Cup series regarding Quake Live. And seeing that these 2 finalists already met each other during the group stage, it remained to be seen what the result of this clash of titans was going to be!

France had l1nkje, fishbone, kirua and bed3g3 as lineup, facing the Germans fielding Fragmaster, abso, ischju and xtro.

During the group stage, Germany managed to beat France in a very super tight game that even led into overtime where Germany managed to come out as victor! Today saw the same 3 maps take place, qzctf2, qzctf7 and qzctf8 to conclude yet another very tense game, both teams anxious yet nervous to take on each other!

Asus ENC groups revealed

After the ASUS ESL ENC released the qualification info, there have been 3 rounds to determine the 6 national teams who meet up with the pre-invited teams in the groupstage. Yesterday saw the live group drawing on ESL TV for all games participating in the ASUS European Nations Cup.

Amongst them of course our beloved Quake Live, where 12 teams were seeded amongst two groups of 6 each - flawless math here people and you know it! - and it will definitely be awesome to see how this plays out and who will reach the playoffs.

I myself will be looking forward for the classic derby of Belgium vs the Netherlands, but rest assured that not matter the group, great TDM games will be available for you all to enjoy.

Clanbase TDM Nations Cups semi finals!

Alrighty then! This weeks promises some good games with both semi finals coming up in the Clanbase TDM Nations Cup 2010. Favorite or underdog, it doesn't really matter! If a team manages to get in the semi finals, that means they did a proper job at securing victory to get this far.

And the 4 teams that did this successfully are France, Serbia, UK and Poland.
Tonight we'll have France taking on Serbia at 21:00 and tomorrow sees the UK meet up with Poland.

Will France manage to secure a their spot in the finals like they did in the CTF NC?
Will the UK succeed in beating Poland and as such meet up with a possible France finalist, who kicked them out of the CTF NC in the quarter finals?
Exciting games ahead so tune in on Holysh1t TV or any stream of your choice so you don't miss out on any of these games!

I also don't know where my head was when forgetting to announce the semi finals for the Clanbase CTF nations cup 2010 but those turned out as follows:
Germany 2 - 1 Netherlands
and
France 2 - 1 Finland
(vods for both games available)

So that means that the CTF finals will be between Germany and France, which has Classic Nation Derby written all over it! Stay tuned and check out our schedule for when the 3rd place game between The Netherlands and Finland will be played and of course when this final is happening!

Clanbase NC 2010 CTF Playoffs

Everybody does Kung Fu Playoffs... HUH!

So many cups, so many games, but some rounds deserve more attention than others. And amongst those are the CTF Playoff rounds of the 2010 Clanbase Nations Cup!

On the matchroster are:

Netherlands - Sweden: will history repeat itself, or will Sweden steal some points?
Belgium - Finland: I'm a Belgian so yay there!
Germany - Hungary: I have nothing witty to say about these two, so just watch!
UK - France: Rosbeefs vs Frogs, definitely one to watch!

This week also sees the remaining game of Slovakia - Poland in the TDM Nations Cup so soon after those are played, a playoff schedule will be released. Stay tuned!

Speaking of "tune", we've got them all lined up for live broadcasting on tv.holysh1t.net !

QQC TDM Nations Cup 2010 Playoffs

Tonight was the last groupstage game for the QuakeQuickCup NC 2010 TDM and for Sweden to get a spot in the playoffs, it needed a solid 2-0 mapvictory over the Netherlands, in order to bump Finland from the 2nd spot.

But... that didn't happen, so with this game played, we now know the 8 teams that will go into the playoffs.

There was a live draw on lvl^ tv after the aforementioned game between Sweden and the Netherlands, and the results of that draw are as follows:

Netherlands - Hungary
France - Iceland
Poland - Finland
UK - Austria

ASUS ENC 2010 Qualifications started!

In a previous post where ESL confirmed Quake Live to be part of their upcoming European Nations Cup, they now seem to have partnered up with ASUS for this 12 slot Nations tournament and qualifications are set to go next week!

During 3 qualification rounds, 18 nation teams will have to come out as winner, so 6 remain that will join the 6 directly invited teams, totalling 12 nations facing off in the ENC.

To explain: the 6 winners from the 1st qualification round (QR1) will meet the 6 teams in QR2, and those 6 winners will again meet the teams of QR3, and those 6 winners will join the preinvited teams. This means that the seedings determine if you have to win 3, 2 or 1 game to make it to that select 12. And those were made public yesterday:

QQC Groupstages about to complete

5 weeks of serious TDM Quake Live action, that's what the groupstage of the Quake Quick Cup TDM Nations Cup 2010 was all about! This week we've seen the remaining games between Russia and UK (week 5) on Tuesday, and yesterday Hungary vs Italy from week 4, and that only leaves the clash of Sweden with the Netherlands!

Sunday evening at 22:00 CET will see the live drawing of the playoffs on Lvl^ tv or just keep an eye on the webpage and refresh regularly for an updated scheme, but here's already an overview of the groups and who came out on top of their groups.

Please note that the 2nd spot in group A has yet to be decided by the match between Netherlands and Sweden, because if Sweden manages to obtain a 2:0 victory, then they get 3 points for that and hop over Finland, bumping them from 2nd spot! Exciting stuff for Sunday, March 14th at 21:00 CET!
