iCTF 4vs4 ladder!

A while ago, people asked me to promote a subscene of QuakeLive, namely iCTF. Now, I can hear you all say: "bah who needs ictf when you got ctf and tdm and duel!"

Well, some do, and so the irc channel #qlictf was formed, where instagibbers all around (mainly EU based) are able to chill out, play a pickup game of iCTF or just chat about what they like:

But these guys want more, they want to bring iCTF on the competitive map! And so a 4vs4 iCTF ladder was born, hosted by FraggedNation. This ladder is a point-based system, played on any regular-size ctf and ta-ctf map, where any team can join and advance in points by being victorious over other clans. What more do you want, right?

So if you feel like playing a round of iCTF, join the pickup on irc. If you and some friends want even more, form a team, and sign up for this ladder! Fun guaranteed!

ESL QL BNL gets “supported” EPS

What I'm trying to say is that European Sports League Quake Live BeNeLux won't be getting an "official" European Pro Series.

A few weeks ago the EAS (European Amateur Series) were opened and if certain activity criteria were met, an EPS would get started. ESL only has 4 EPS and it had already chosen 3:

Counter-Strike: Source 5on5
Counter-Strike 1.6 5on5
Call of Duty 4 5on5

And, since monday, Trackmania Nations: Forever was added as the fourth EPS.

The reason they picked TMNF over QL, although both communities had similar activity, is because they just had to chose something. See of it as a random pick.

There is a small beacon of light though for the Quake Live community:

That's why WSquared decided to host a supported ESL PRO SERIES game. That game will be Quake Live 1on1. We will host an entire season of epic matches, we are working on a hardware package of prices and we will host LAN finales. We'll do our best to achieve this, so stay tuned for more information.

This means that there will be an EPS after all, though with hardware prizes rather than money. This is what ESL refers to as a "supported" EPS. If you're from the BNL area, sign up for the EAS and start playing!

Clanbase opens Quake Live ladders

It had to happen, ladders for Quake Live.
This week, ClanBase announced their Quake Live ladders: non stop competition for keeping that top spot for every gametype! (Well, those that matter anyway )

The following ladders have been created, all being in Best-of-3 format, with their respective mappools.

Duel:
- Maps: qzdm6, qzdm13, qztourney4, qztourney7, qztourney9, ztntourney1
- Join!
TDM 2on2:
- Maps: qzca2, qzdm6, qzdm20, qztourney6, qztourney7, ztntourney1
- Join!
TDM 4on4:
- Maps: qzdm6, qzdm7, qzdm14
- Join!
CTF:
- Maps: qzctf2, qzctf3, qzctf7, qzctf8, qzctf10
- Join!

On a sidenote, the Duel ladder will be AGP sanctioned by monthly review of activity and position.

The first European Capture the Flag League for Quake Live has now opened its gates to every CTF Clan out there seeking competition, reputation and free beer.

BiBS is a League made for the community, by the community and its first Season will begin on Monday, the 25th of May.

Sign-up's will remain open up until the 24th of May.

ESL.eu Quake Live Duel Ladder

Today ESL.eu announced a new Quake Live duel ladder! Everybody is free to participate and you can sign up any time you want.

Location: Europe
Type: Ladder
Game Type: Duel (best of 1)
Maps: qzdm6, qzdm13, tourney4, tourney6, tourney7
Prizes: Pride and honour.

This is the second competitive gaming organization that shows significant interest in Quake Live. Earlier there was the USA oriented GGL which created several CA, TDM and Duel ladders.

I can only predict Clanbase will follow suit and create some competitive leagues as well in the next few weeks or months.

GGL.com Quake Live Duel, CTF, TDM and CA Ladder

The well known gaming website GGL.com has recently started a Quake Live group. At the moment most participants in this ladder are North American. But also Europeans are more than welcome to join and fight for the first spot in this ladder.

It's nice to see GGL is doing efforts to promote Quake Live. Since GGL.com is orientated more to the North American community and Clanbase.com is more directed towards the European community, I hope that also clanbase will jump on the Quake Live train and host some events.
