FragTV in beta
A GTV for Quake Live, that's what FragTV is. mos-6581 has created a GUI that connects to someone running a FragTV server, relaying a demo while it's being recorded, essentially creating a GTV-like experience. Holysh1t had a similar concept in development years ago that was web based but we couldn't quite package it nicely.
It looks like mos-6581 has managed to do so and added some handy features on top. The FragTV client requires a WolfcamQL installation and will also connect to TwitchTV and show the stream (for audio mostly since you're watching it in better quality in WolfcamQL) and chatbox from Twitch.
Quake 3 and Quake Live demo renderer
All you want to do is upload that awesome frag to Youtube but you don't know or want to go through all the hassle to convert your demo to a video file. If you think that the existing tools are too time consuming then look no further because Maverick Servers and Gaming has released an online tool that allows you to upload a demo file and it will spit you back a video file, 1080p, 30fps.
The demo renderer is currently not configurable but they are working on these features: custom config, different fps, render library, etc.

Own3d.tv down for the count
What once started out as a promising streaming endeavor that focused on gaming has announced today that they will end their service by the end of the day. A few years ago Own3d.tv tried to compete in a market dominated by livestream.com, ustream.com and justin.tv, of which none had a game-oriented site until justin.tv came up with twitch.tv. This last one has proven to be a very tough competitor for Own3d.tv and since it's launch it has become the #1 choice for some of the largest streaming communities, stealing away necessary viewers from Own3d.tv.
Update: ESAGamer.com to add Quake Live
A new multigaming tournament provider called ESAGamer.com has added Quake Live to it's website after making a post on ESR. Of course people immediately requested Quake Live to be added, which the site owner has now done. The site is still preparing for it's launch, expected somewhere in January, but it's possible to reserve your nickname already to get you going as soon as the site goes live.
VisualHUD is getting updated to version 2.0
Almost 2 years ago we made an article about namad's VisualHUd, then in Alpha stage. Now namad announced that he is working on the HUD generator again to work on some new features and bug reports. The UI of the generator will be redesigned and made clearer, and the generated code should be of better quality.
You can find the current VisualHUD generator here.

Practice item timing on Android
User freddejones has made an ESR thread where he introduces his new Android app named Quake Live Timer. This little app enables you to practice item timing and calculating the time between item spawns. It does not show a countdown timer on the smartphone that will show when the next item will be up. What it does do is give you exercises based on item, all you need to do is quickly figure out when the next item will respawn.
