Holysh1t Quake Live Community

Welcome to the new Holysh1t.net portal!

Posted by Malice

About a week ago we announced a restyling of this website. We kept our promise and here it is! The old design was limited in options and a reorganization of the layout was badly needed.

Although the new design might still be a bit buggy the first few days, most things should be running smoothly if you're running IE7+. Bugs in IE6 will be fixed later on.

Either way... Lets review some of the major improvements in this theme.

Quake Live goes Twitter? Holysh1t.net Follows!

Posted by Malice

quake-live-twitter1Some of you may have read in the most recent news update that Quake Live is now using Twitter.

Wait... what? You can't say that! You're breaking the beta Non Disclosure Agreement!

Well, not exactly. Twitter is a public feed. Just do a little search in Google for "Quake Live Twitter" and you'll see that these updates are not private and they are there for everyone to follow.

Ok then. But what exactly is this "Twitter" You're talking about?

Twitter has been the internet hype of 2008. The Twitter system is similar to "Facebook updates", and to be honest, that's really the only thing twitter does: keep people updated about random activities in a short sentence of maximum 180 characters.

Holysh1t.net is looking for a crew!

Posted by Malice

Holysh1t is currently one of the biggest public Quake Live communities out there with on average 200 people at #qlpickup.eu and over 1500 people visiting the website on a daily basis.

Yet we still have the ambition to do much more than we're already doing. Besides beginner guides, interviews and strategy discussion we also wish to provide event coverage,  organize our own online tournaments and who knows what else.

But to achieve all this we need help from the people within this community. We can't do everything by ourselves anymore and we would like to get as much enthusiastic people on board as possible!

Recent developments in Quake Live and at holysh1t.net

Posted by Malice

Time has gone by and things have changed. Not just at holysh1t.net, but mainly in quake live itself. Here are some key developments that occurred in the last few weeks:

Change #1: The Quake Live website has permanently moved

The Quake Live website has changed its location from quakelive.idsoftware.com to beta.quakelive.com. The beta is still closed and you still need an invitation to get in. Yet id software is sending out a massive amount of invites and it is said that the current user base of approx 25,000 will be doubled in no time, bringing Quake Live to about 50,000 closed beta testers very soon (rough estimates). Ask around in #qlpickup.eu on mIRC if you need an invite, you will surely be assisted soon enough.
