So, I just upgrade from a 5 year old optical to the Razer Death Adder and wow, amazing. Anyway, someone gave me a tip to use in_mouse 2 instead of the default of in_mouse 1....it was a very good tip, it made my mouse so much more smooth, i love it. Anyway, I'm trying to nail down exactly what the different in_mouse settings do and half the things I've read are talking about q3a settings which may or may not be the same. From what I can tell 1 uses windows buffer/drivers and 2 bypasses windows and QL communicates straight with the mouse. I've seen talk of a 3 and -1 setting, but that may just be q3a. Does anyone know the scoop on the different settings?

in_mouse -1 = windows rendering, your windows sensitivity intervenes with the quake sensitivity, some like it this way. And you can use the windows mouse control panel thing to perhaps remap mousebutton clicks to keystrokes.
in_mouse 1 = directinput from directx
in_mouse 2 = raw input, meaning QL talks to the mouse directly, no handler in between.Posted 2 years ago #
