I dont know what is happen but i have about 3-5 fps in my QL :/
My old-laptop configuration: Acer 2355 TM series [Celeron 1.4MHz, 512MB, Intel Extreme Graphics 2 (64 MB Shared RAM), Chipset Intel 852GM].
I'm using FireFox 3.0.6
Okay, it isn't a monster but in normal q3 get const. 125fps...
I have low video configuration (640x480, picmip 5, bilinear, vertex light, 16bits colors/textures etc.)
Any solution on this issue ?
I use firefox 3.0.6.
3-5 fps is really, very low 
don't know a lot about computers so I wouldn't know if your configuration is sufficient to play QL.
I suggest you first test with another browser (IE7), see if that gives proper fps, if not, i think you should perhaps update/reinstall video drivers. If you get proper fps, i would uninstall the plugin, uninstall firefox, copy your profile so you can import it again and reinstall the bunch.

worst case would be a format, because sometimes, a format is faster than debugging the problem and as such the lesser of two evils.
u can compare q3 with ql in some aspects of technology, but ql is a bit more heavy or advanced, it has a bit more life to it then normal q3 to, so... ull definitly need to lover all your settings to bare minimum.
i dunno i had p4 2,6 with radeon x1600 and couldnt get constant 125 at resolution that i wanted.
There are few options ...
... install latest gfx drivers
... disable all addons and plugins in FF, (especially talkback(it is know to make some probs at certain users) except what ql needs).
Only thing I know is I get very low FPS when I got the VISTA popup before my screen.

I think it's my graphic card issue - integrated GPU memory is controlled by application - so my conclusion is the browser can't exact too much memory.
Now I'm trying to get some solutions from Intel support how to exact manually as much shared memory as its possible.

And...there is the solution ! Yesterday i was installed new OS with my Acer old-drivers. Sorry guys for confusion.
Now I have 90-100 fps.

That's no longer true in quake live :p
Movement is now totally fps unrelated... so I guess you could easily put com_maxfps 75 and perform just as good, and probably even better cause you got stable fps now.
Well, it all depends on how smooth u want your quake.
