Long ago you had the website tournament.com with hl 2 dm and css. 10 players go into a match and put in 1$ each for example and then the first 3 wins cash. Also other game modes with other ways to win cash but also free games with bonus cash. I used to play that website for a few mouths it was really fun didn't became rich from it but a fun extra. But what i'm meaning with this post now. Could quake live also go that way?

If you wanna know what tournament.com is search youtube and you will find movies about it. I'm also on it search xkillerz. Tournament.com is no more it closed down because off to less players.

But back on topic if they didn't discussed something like this yet then I like to suggest it to ID.

I don't see any edit button at this moment. But what also would by a cool play style like 1 kill 90$ cents and 1 death 1.00$ lost also tournament.com wanted to put that in but after it closed. But still I just want to enlarge the idea here for ID.

For real money. the fun money was that you won many free games and then you could use the fun money into a paid match. But thats not a must. I just explain how the tournament.com system was. What I like to see is the real money system thing integrated into quake live you got a large off free servers were people can play how its now. But also servers were you can put some off your money in it fully integrated. And try to win like the plan above.

This game is perfect for such things so thats why I'm hoping that this plan can reach ID and that they do something with it. But first I like to discuss it here.

I don't mind some degenerate gambling from time to time (pokers! :] )

but I can see many reasons why id software would be against such an idea...

some external service could definitely arrange this though. Never really heard of a betting culture in the esports area though. Theres just too little at stake to not bribe the players, lol :p

Well myself I don't mind to put up the external service myself. But the tournament.com thing that was the thing that could change online gaming. But it stopped very sad waited mouths for something new then kwari appeared. But when I wanted to play it was also down. But this got a future also as a free game of course many tournaments will by made. But also for cash gaming this could have a future but its just how ID thinks about it. But any suggestions are welcome to.

But before I contact ID or anything. I will first think up the plan very well and most have played the beta first still waiting for a invite in the topic but I expect I get 1 soon.

The main flaw with betting on organized games is that the stakes can't ever be very high. Average games have hardly anything at stake, and a small online duel cup often just has a 100-200$ prize.

Real gamblers often wager way more than that. Once wagers exceed the actual winnings of the game itself, gamblers will just start bribing the gamers and lose on purpose.

A play money betting system however does exist, even for quake, at esreality.com.

Sorry website doesn't work(now works) well tournament.com were dm matches like 15 min and then you could win 5$ as 1st but there are endless off possible things possible. Also tdm that everyone wins the same amount. I'm more a home gamer. Doesn't go on lan trips or I must get a sponsor then its a other story but not really quick thats why I like this kind off tournaments or matches.

Played quake live it was pretty fun but the idea mixing such things into quake live would really by fun but I take a look if I can send ID a suggestion. Further if they don't like to then I just need to use external services if I really want it.

The forums are not really active on of the beta. So I just gonna make a external service in the future very simple system. With small budget if you guys like. I will report any process here. But don't expect it any time quick the game is in beta so maybe in a few mouths I will create something. What ID thinks thats their deal. I hope it convince them to create something like that into the quake live system.

well I don't want to make a to large discussion about gambling but betting on a match were 2 players are playing is gambling and may not by allowed (need to search out that and depends were the host is located and the laws) But 2 players putting money playing a game is skill based and allowed (saw with a other website). The website will get a big focus on many games finally but starting with quake. When I release this I will post it here. Also the system will get a beta to see if everything works. Its just a service for the people that want this nothing more.

hmm im down to bet on some matches however i am sure id software will not incorporate this..legalitys but a third party site would be cool ... put your money where your mouth is type of ish :O

If the quake live thing will not get accepted and get me into trouble. Then a backup plan is to host up a quake 3 server. But I'm just gonna try it and after a long while. Maybe some game company's will not by happy. While others are maybe are but you never know they always come messing because you earn money.

Well status about the website well a friend and me are working on it and process goes slow since we are both students. But we are trying to make it professional but simple. At the moment there is a part off the layout done. But also support like xbox360 games then some people that like to host the games and etc. or ps 3 and go on. But also a lot of PC games but I'm be careful because I already know some games that they will not like it when I host that. But I just look the way to it like a LAN.

Well about budget there is not much budget but if it goes well then I can expand to host servers here or at a location. I work at a location sometimes were they recycle Pentium III or server pcs if any better stuff gets in there then I could take some. But I will see how I do that first quake live.

A investor that is the dream of course but yea thats a little to far thinking ahead.

well you also have to take into account you cant bet on the other player not cheating.

Did you mean not bet on a match were 2 others are playing? or about a cheater well high cash games are always been spectated and if any cheating been spotted then simple the fair player wins. and cheater will by kicked out without any $ return. But not any match will get spectated lower matches sometimes when I got nothing to do and like to see how they play.

yes i understand that all i am saying is when money is involved some people will try anything to protect their investment.
