I never really played Q3 that much, single player just for the heck of it and a bit of RA3. I really do enjoy Quake Live though, and I want to play it more. Can a half-newb join a CTF/TDM pickup game without being totally slaughtered or ridiculed?
What skill is required for pickup?

Some people are a bit less skilled, but most players are actually above average players. I don't know if you would enjoy it that much if you are really very new (like if you cant really do strafe jumps yet).
I'd say give it a try and decide for yourself
most people are nice. Sometimes theres a whiner in the bunch but just ignore him or her.

Thanks for a good response. I think i'll give it a try. I'm not terrible but i don't really have that good map knowledge, and aim isn't excellent. I'll recon a few of the CTF maps first though. Of course there are always whiners in every game. From my experience ppl are a lot more friendly in Quake than like CS which i play sometimes with mates (everyone's like 12 yrs old there it seems like). Anyway, see you ingame
