My comment has grown way too big. Here it is:

ALWAYS KNOW WHAT THE NEXT ITEM IS
It's been covered by the above introduction already. Know what spawns next! Is it RA, Mega, or both? If both, which one is more important to you? Which is more easily obtained?

NEVER JUMP DOWN
You will make this mistake only once, like I did. Map is DM6. Opponent at the shaft, me at the RL. I heard him being lower than 60hp and I was 100/100, so I decided to jump down. He pointed the shaft at my face and I was dead before I hit the ground. Talk about a comeback when I had previously fragged the guy.

NEVER EXPOSE YOURSELF
When you need to hit your opponent, let your ammo go there. Don't try to run up close and get a full shotgun clip in his face. At least, not when he is watching your approach!

When contending for an item, shoot the item! This sounds silly, but the guy is very likely to walk over it when it respawns. Sometimes he will even die of your rocket's splash damage. Free item without exposing yourself!

ALWAYS AMBUSH YOUR OPPONENT
As opposed to the previous statement, try to get up close and get a full shotgun clip in his face! But only from a place where you won't be expected. Don't stand out in the open. Make sure there is only one place from where you can be seen, which is the place you're looking at!

Playing duel is like walking into one big trap. Good players will always have something cooked up for you the moment you walk to the next item.

ALWAYS BE HIGHER
Being higher allows you to toss down rockets and grenades. In DM6, you can control almost the entire map from the 3rd level. Exception is the yellow armor which is why it is called the 'defensive part of the map' in this introduction.

Some opponents can stand near the RA in DM6 and rail you from beneath. I might learn this kind of railing some day.

ALWAYS WATCH TV
When playing, act as if you're spectating your opponent in-game. Where is he going? Where will he be in 5 seconds? If you know he'll be at the yellow armor in 5 seconds, shoot some rockets over there. If you can keep this up and be consistent, you will hear those late hit beeps. Those beeps can really make you feel good about yourself! Plus, you will actually mentally scare and limit your opponent, making him think you always know where he is even if you're not looking.

If you don't know where your opponent is, walk for a few seconds you can hear him making noise again. Don't start running again until you know exactly where he is!

ALWAYS STAY ALIVE
The best thing you can do is not die. However, when you keep running away, you're letting him get stacked behind your back! Eat goofballs to improve your health, but don't take too long! Make sure you take the time to get a decent ambush position at the next item.

ALWAYS LEARN TRICKS ON THE MAP
You need that jump to the railgun in DM6. If you learn it in Q3 you will most likely never miss the one in QL which is easier.

ALWAYS WATCH PROS PLAY
Watching pros play is like growing a full-grown plant in 3 minutes. It will feed you strategies that will prove effective guaranteed!

Glad you liked it :D

We'll remember your suggestions, though we're first gonna try to get other general instruction guides up, such as a TDM or CTF tutorial.

Later on when we got all that covered we can start thinking about expanding the basic tactics :)

A railgun has a very long reload time. It's not in the form of changing a clip or anything and it goes automatic, but it's still reloading :)

Lightning gun however has non stop fire.
