Not all bad news today, QLHud is back up and running. This large HUD repository will definitely find you a suiting HUD to go with your personal taste and needs. Feel free to add and share your own HUD creations, which can easily be made with VisualHUD.
The website has been around since 2009 but was offline for the past few months. I would like to thank nico for putting in extra effort to return the QLHud website after the original author of the backend code "claimed the removal of it". The whole websites source is available on github now. Have a look and support the site with some Facebook likes and Google+ plusses(?)!
The qlhud.net website provides a free platform where anyone can download and share custom made HUD(s) for Quake Live.
- Find a HUD that suits your needs (search by description, author)
- Upload your own custom HUD together with a screenshot and get a permanent link to the preview/download page.
- and more...
Example: The default HUD provided by id Software.
If you need help installing or using a particular HUD, check out the Custom HUD install guide and the related posts listed below.
Enjoy and contribute your HUDs!
update: It is now possible to change the crosshair colors by using the menu or console settings! This method is a lot easier than the method described below.
Building on EmSixTeen's custom HUD installation guide we thought it would also be interesting to explain how to install a custom crosshair in Quake Live. A custom crosshair is a must, in my opinion. Standard Quake Live crosshairs have crosshairpulse which makes the crosshair expand in size each time an item is picked up. Moreover, the game Quake Live doesn't allow you to change the crosshair colors yet. Only white is available.
