RG/RL damage sucks. Besides that: nice.

What results do you expect on a QL community site?

  • <cite>Lashknife</cite> March 5, 2009 at 12:06 PM - Log in to Reply

Results can still vary as many QL players originate from any Quake series game…

People pass by here very often just looking for an answer about quake live in the beginner guides section. Doesn’t mean they absolutely love the game though ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Coming from UT2k4 iCTF, I really like QuakeLive. Especially the Instagib game type. I hope there will be soon iCTF and ranked instagib servers.

Instagib would require a separate ranking, just for insta-gametype, because it doesnt match regular rail gameplay.

Full of 10 to 12 year old kids with auto shoot. Dev’s don’t care cause they are afraid to loose the dwindling q3 community that is all full of the same BS. Punk buster is a joke and they two could care less. I think the devs may be the ones behind selling the hacks. After all no one will buy the game any more so why not get all they can before it completely dies.

I don’t feel the idea of quake will ever die , it is a doom remake and the idea of doom the game has never died it’s just that quake became more well known for alot of us who weren’t around when doom was created.

as for doom 3 , well I like it but it IS machine intensive.

quakelive is as good as it will get for some people that think it’s the new and only way to play quake or they’re trying to wait it out to see if quakelive gets better , for now there seems to be only minor improvements since it’s release.

If quakelive keeps this current slow pace of incremental improvements
or stops completely , the hardcore quake player will downgrade to previous versions they were happy with from the start.

I don’t like the constraints quakelive puts on the public and the quake addict. hardcore quakers won’t allow some site like quakelive to dictate to them what quake should be , the gamer calls the shots.

but I just can’t speak against the fact that quakelive introduces quake to alot of quake players that would otherwise have no knowledge of it.

it’s a sad thing that those new quake players are being introduced in such a manor as quakelive is currently pushing out the door.

I think the solution becomes clear , quake original + quakelive loaded on the hard drive , so that we can keep an eye on quakelive AND the retail quake 3

for those that don’t like anything but death match alot retail quake 3 prety much means playing on A51 FFA server …..

I see the A51 FFA server and the quakelive method need to meet up in some way.

    fret fret fret sigh .,.,.,.,.

I feel like at this point the quake comunity are gettin the raw end of the stick because we don’t really get to have a say in what the admins do with their quake servers.

it seems you find a good quake server and it last about 6 months before the players all leave after discovering the relentless repitition of quake , the same maps over and over and over.

why can’t we just let a server have every map in existence thats not broken.
that way it would keep the game play exciting and fresher.

some private public quake admins understand that fact , by the looks of things the quakelive admins NEVER WILL.

the games are pumped out the door before they are complete look at quake 1 , it’s been remade so many times by great mod makers and still has room for goodies.

games can look awsome in directx 9 still , still lots of room for untried techniques.

I do admire quakelive for not being seriously unforgiving when it comes to hardware requirement. the have good load balance accross the spectrum of hardware out there.

in the end quakelive is not a final solution , just a one step closer to the quakers desires.

Quake3 / Quakelive will never die.
After 11 yrs you can take this for granted.
I will never stop playing quake in my whole live.
    Thats for sure.

    i agree 100%
i think ID wanted to make mmo money and couldnt be botherd to make an mmo so they stuck q3 in a broswer and sold 3rd party helios hacks for 12? a month.
they say if you see sombody dodgy to record and upload the demo, the hacks ive seen being caught are the ones that somebody saw and everyone went spec and recorded them, hows that sposed to happen now, you cant type wallhack in game anymore to warn other players, the word is blocked. its like they are making it harder to report cheats.
ive played quake from the begining, lans, tourneys, div 1 ctf, tdm and duel its pettyeasy to spot cheats tracking through walls and being allways last alive in Ca because they know where the enemy is.

imo its the last nail in the coffin for quake, they mess around with crappy devpick game modes and skirt around real updates like maps, netcode and getting rid of cheats. item spawns are messed up, player spawns are a joke making conversion frags a thing of the passed, in q3 if you die in a 1v1 lets say on ztn your span is random, in ql if you die the game wants nubs to have a fighting chance so it spawns you as far away as possible from the dude that fragged you, this is good for nubs but conversion frags never happen. and tdm 5 sec weap respawn is a complete joke
