AGPTour.com launched

March 11, 2009 1 comment Article

agp-tourAnticipated for several weeks, today the AGP Tour, a project by Jarod “Streetrunner” Reisin, has officially launched its website.

Since the AGP Tour focuses exclusively on Quake Live, this of course is great news.

But what exactly is this AGP Tour you’re talking about?

The AGP (Association of Gaming Professionals) Tour is an organization that mainly caters the professional gamers playing Quake Live duels on a competitive level. More specifically the AGP Tour:

  1. Supports professional gamers, in whichever way possible;
  2. Provides coverage in the form of interviews, pictures and videos (has a huge video section with Classics, containing several legendary Quake 3 duel confrontations);
  3. Might possibly even organize tournaments itself, together with a global ranking (we’ll see!).

As an exclusive for this launch the AGP Tour also published an article with 5 questions for 5 pros in which five Quake 3 veterans share their thoughts about Quake Live’s competitive potential.

Do you think Quake Live has the potential to become the largest deathmatch game ever?

[usa] Rapha – If they keep progressing in a positive direction like they have so far, and listen to the pros, then yes it definitely has the potential to be.

[netherlands] Draven – It has potential to become a really great game. So many people are already playing the game; people from Unreal Tournament, CS:Source, Quake 2, and Warsow are coming to play Quake Live and most of them like it.

[uk] Hell – It definitely has the potential to be. It’s already drawn in masses around the world, it’s free, it’s easy, and doesn’t require any patches or downloading of maps or pakfiles like other Quake games. It’s very user friendly and anyone can play it. I can’t see how it cannot be one of, if not the biggest.

[sweden] Toxic – I think it’s too early to tell that yet. I want to see a few tournaments played before I could make up my mind about that. Usually the games are played alot different online than they are in major events, but I think the game have potential to grow.

[usa] Chance – It has begun.
