Intel Extreme Masters 4 public qualifications completed

November 16, 2009 4 comments Article

esl-iem-4ESL is one of those organizations that host international big competitions accross various games and regarding QuakeLive here in Europe, that means 3 things: the ESL Major Series V featuring a TDM competition, the 4th Intel Extreme Masters championship being a duel competition and the Game On nation tournaments (part of the IEM)

Regarding the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM for those who love abbreviations, and we all know ESL loves to abbreviate 😉 ), the four public qualifier rounds are now concluded so let’s see who’s up to join the group of pre-invited players.

Qualifier #1

[france] Foox_FC
[norway] xrebzy
[poland] bodzo
[uk] zsx

Qualifier #2

[lithuania] guard
[sweden] Z4muZ
[uk] GaRpY
[netherlands] Weirdsel

Qualifier #3

[iceland] linkoo
[sweden] fooki
[ireland] kRoNic
[netherlands] geow

Qualifier #4

[netherlands] Sc00T
[belgium] dem0n
[uk] pulseh
[sweden] doj

Pre-invited players are: noctis, fox, madix, calipt, vizari, stermy, k1llsen, strenx, fazz, draven, cypher, cooller, spart1e, av3k, l1nkje and smoke.

iem4-ql_eu_schemeFor those who didn’t really follow the IEM championships, here’s a picture that will explain it all (click to enlarge). 4 public 32-slot tournaments which will deliver 16 players, add that to the 16 preinvites to again create 32 players divided into 8 groups, of which from each group the top 2 will advance to the final championship groups (4 groups with 4 players each) which will be concluded with a 8 player playoff system.

So IEM4 will demand alot of time from alot of players, so the big prize vault of $13200 will be something that has to be truely earnt by the participants!

i guess you’ll have to die another day then, because the signups for this cup were ended early november and the 4 public qualification rounds where played during the past 2 weeks.
