Pros can start premium gametypes for standards

January 14, 2014 1 comment Article

For those of us who have Pro accounts, you are now able to launch any gametype and host it for standard players as well. This should allow some gametypes to get more traction and along with that more players. If you ever wanted to try some of the non-standard gametypes, look for spawned servers by pro subscribers.

In earlier news, an engine update was released that makes the web-browsing experience better. Zooming the pages for high-DPI monitors or TV sets should now be possible and they have also fixed some of the browser rendering, making the whole thing more efficient.

Some of you have already noticed, but to make it official, we’ve gone ahead and make last week’s Start a Match change permanent. Our Pro subscribers can now spawn all gametypes through Start a Match, whether the match is Standard or Premium. Get on there and start playing some Domination, and have a great weekend!

We’ve just deployed an updated engine for QUAKE LIVE.

  • Fixed an issue that would lead to the friends list not showing. There may be other causes remaining, so if you’re still running into this issue, ensure your friends are still appearing in the console.
  • Added web_zoom cvar to control zoom level of webpage for people playing on high DPI displays or TVs. Default is 100. There is not yet a place in the UI to set zoom.

1/10 Changes:

  • Reworked browser rendering to be much more CPU efficient when idling.

Everything seems to be working pretty well. Although servers that get over filled tend to crash as of lately. Maybe that’s the fix your doing now with this next update. Can’t complain about anything at this time. Just questions that come up from time to time. Like is there a for of PunkBuster on QL yet?

    Thank, You
