Chat with your friends while playing Quake Live

Until recently I did not know it was possible to talk to someone in your friends list while you are playing Quake Live.
When you send a message through the browser, it pops up in your friend’s Quake Live. This is already a nice feature but it is also possible to talk back while in game.
Open the console and type
/tell_buddy name “text here”
I find this tool very useful to drop an online friend a quick note while you’re playing.

it´s also possible to chat when you go to options while playing then to control, to chat and then enter a key for reply. but next game you play you have to do this again to reply to your friends. until now i didn´t find a command to put in my cfg to spare me from always doing that option. maybe you find one.

wrong expression: i mean i didn´t find a way to bind it. is it possible to bind it at all (cause of different friend´s names)?
