Since some time, ESL features a Weekend Cup Series for Polish players only, which is played during the weekend (yah-hah!), and features Best-of-3 games in a Double-Elimination bracket system.
This past weekend the 4th edition was concluded which featured a DE16 format, unlike the first 3 editions that were SE32 (Single Elimination).
During this 4th weekend, some unexpected players rose to the occasion to run away with the gold silver bronze and whatever metal that is left behind for 4th place. [poland] Michal “inz4h” Grzybowski (winner #3 and favorite #4) and [poland] Marcin “Marc3l” Bialkowski (#3 3rd) had to free op spots and dropped to places 5 and 6 respectively.
inz4h being pushed down by [poland] Andrzej “szaman” Matyjek in the LB who finally finished 4th just behind another favorite [poland] Rafal “Grumx” Sawicki (3rd) who in turn got beaten by who was apparently the black horse of this weekend but finished 2nd: [poland] Mateusz “bloodpa1nt” Wodzisz.
Regular top 3 player [poland] Patryk “Mad” Nowacki stole the show after some nice and close games that weekend.

Also take a look at the 4th bracket review.
So all “Ye Olde Polish Laggin Bastards” who feel the need to bash in their fellow country gamer’s skull, and put the curse back on Mad’s shoulders, haul over to http://www.esl.eu/pl/quakelive/, open the 1on1 menu and choose the latest Weekend Cup! (Sorry, only Polish players – local and abroad – allowed!)

On a last note, #5 sees an interesting change for the final match: where it used to be a double Best-of-3 (LB winner has to win once to get back in WB and then beat the WB Finalist), it will now be a Best-of-5 !
