It’s not our tradition to report about news that’s not about Quake Live, but this time we just had to make an exception.
Over the past few weeks DerQuaker.com, together with own3d.tv, organized a Quake 3 movie contest sponsored by Dell. The requirements were that the video was about Quake 3 and lasted no longer than 99 seconds.
The prizes included a Dell Mini 9 Netbook for first place and cash money for all top 3 finishers. Read More

After having recently launched a Quake Live ladder, ESL.eu yesterday announced their Quake Live spring league, which will run from 30 March to 31 May.
A league system is different from the ladder format though, so allow me to explain the system for those who are not familiar with it yet.
Groupstage
After having signed up, all competitors are being placed into several groups. Each player has to play against all other players in their group. If you win a match against a player, you get points. If you win enough matches and end near the top of your group, you advance to the playoffs.
The playoffs

Although the new design might still be a bit buggy the first few days, most things should be running smoothly if you’re running IE7+. Bugs in IE6 will be fixed later on.
Either way… Lets review some of the major improvements in this theme. Read More

It’s been 10 days since Quake Live went public beta. The press and interest for the game proved to be overwhelming and totally unexpected, as many first timers had to queue up for hours and hours trying to play the game for the very first time.

Now that everybody has had the chance to test the game we were wondering what your first impression of Quake Live was, the very first time you played.
You can rate your first impression from a number from 0 to 5 and optionally share your thoughts in the comments. Read More
